Forestcape is a Belgian investment management firm specialized in sustainable forest investments through a diversified portfolio of fast-growing forest projects (teak, eucalyptus and yerba mate plantations).
We are highly exclusive and work only with family offices and private entities across the globe, we focus on quality above all, each of our investors are taken care individually in order to attend their needs.
Our company’s goal is to provide attractive long-term returns to investors and shareholders with strong risk management practices and based on high environmental and social responsibility standards.
We have actively worked in South America for the last 10 years. In a forest planted by and managed by Forestcape, in addition to choosing appropriate seedlings, we consider all technological advances.
Your forest will have trained labour in planting, adequate transportation, appropriate inputs in the right quantities and dates, adequate equipment and a qualified team doing the necessary monitoring. We are currently 25 experts with complementary skills to best serve our investors.
Good plantation growth, high rates of return for plantation investments, rapidly increasing domestic economy and stable land and forestry policies, makes South America (specially Brazil and Argentina) a potential for investments in forest plantations and forest products manufacturing. Furthermore, they are able to generate significant amounts of capital for internal investments from internal sources (huge internal market for hardwood), which allows expansion of their attractive and competitive forestry sectors.
The risks can be both Natural and/or Financial risks. Natural risks such as fire, excessive weed growth and drought are among the main risks - thinking about them we have developed systems of fire and weed control. Drought would be pretty unusual in the region, although, we can manage it through an irrigation system
Financial risks such as collapse of the market and currency risk are among them. Therefore, shall the prices collapse for whatever reason, the trees will continue to grow until the market recovers. Currency wise, our investments are done in local currency and most of our products are sold in U$D.
When investing in forestry one must think of it as a long-term “Green Retirement”. Investors shouldn’t be investing in forestry to get a short-term/higher ratio return. The reason you should be investing in forestry is to get tangible and stable investment in comparison to other asset classes.
